Alongside commissioned voiceover work, I develop and produce original narrative projects across audio drama, spoken word and long-form storytelling. These projects are typically writer-led and performance-driven, often involving responsibility for concept, scripting, performance and production. This work reflects a broader creative practice centred on story, language and atmosphere, and informs my approach to narration and dramatic performance more widely.
Original gothic horror audio drama
The Ninth Bell is an original gothic horror audio drama written and produced by Phil Rowe. S et on an island monastery off the Welsh coast, the series explores faith, power and moral collapse through a character-driven narrative. The project was developed as a long-form dramatic work with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, ensemble performance and sustained storytelling. The Ninth Bell is produced and performed in collaboration with Burble Audio, a small creative team formed to develop, publish and promote original dramatic audio work.
Poetry & spoken-word podcast
A Voice Like This is a poetry and spoken-word podcast exploring literary works through performance and reflection. The project serves as an ongoing exploration of long-form vocal control, interpretive reading and audience engagement through audio. The podcast has informed my wider narration and dramatic work, particularly in relation to pacing, restraint and responsiveness to language. Available wherever you listen to your podcasts.
Original short horror audio
Ystalyfear is an original short horror piece written, performed, recorded and produced by Phil Rowe. The work combines narrative storytelling with sound design and performance to create a contained, atmospheric listening experience. The piece reflects an interest in place-based horror and compact dramatic form.

I am currently developing a series of original, character-driven monologues intended for release as a compiled dramatic audio work. The project focuses on distinct voices, psychological depth and self-contained narrative moments. This work is designed as both a creative project and a focused exploration of character without reliance on existing intellectual property.
In addition to the projects listed above, I am actively developing further audio drama and narrative concepts, with multiple premises already written and in early stages of development. Details of forthcoming projects are shared selectively as they progress.
