A Remarkable Few Weeks

Three VOX Awards, an Audio Production Awards nomination, and a chance to reflect on a remarkable couple of years.

It’s been quite a few weeks!!

On 10 October, I attended the VOX Awards 2026 and somehow came away with three awards, including Best Male Voiceover Performance of the Year and the Judges’ Choice Award.

And as if that wasn’t enough, I also received the wonderful news that I’d been shortlisted for the New Producer Award at the 2026 Audio Production Awards.

It’s all been more than a little giddying.

But, looking back, I realise that these remarkable few weeks have really been the culmination of a remarkable couple of years, in which I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some brilliant fellow creatives on some simply stunning projects.

A night to remember at the VOX Awards

I was absolutely delighted to receive three awards:

  • Best Human Performance in a Corporate Production/Video
  • Best Male Voiceover Performance of the Year
  • Judges’ Choice Award

The Judges’ Choice Award is particularly special, recognising the performance that achieved the highest overall score from the judging panel.

The project behind that recognition was masterminded by CREO Interactive Ltd, a wonderfully creative company based in Cardiff.

It’s always a pleasure to work with talented people who have a clear vision of what they want to achieve. As voice actors, we’re often the final piece in a much larger creative puzzle, and the finished result owes so much to the people who conceived, developed and produced the work in the first place. So I’m particularly pleased that this recognition also shines a light on the outstanding creative work being produced here in Wales.

Flying the flag for Wales

Another highlight of the evening was seeing so many Welsh voice actors recognised for their work.

I was delighted to share the celebrations with fellow Welsh winners Nikki Mills and Jess Nesling, two enormously talented performers whose achievements deserve every bit of recognition they’ve received.

It fills me with pride to see people from our relatively small corner of the world making such an impression in a highly competitive industry. We’re fortunate to have a thriving community of creative professionals here in Wales, and evenings like this are a lovely reminder of the quality of work being produced.

And, of course, it’s always nice to have a few familiar accents in the room!

Recognition for a different side of my work

As wonderful as the VOX Awards were, the news from the Audio Production Awards meant something a little different.

I’ve been shortlisted for the New Producer Award at the 2026 Audio Production Awards, recognising my work in original audio drama.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve increasingly been exploring the possibilities of creating my own productions, bringing together my experience as a performer with a growing fascination for writing, sound design and storytelling.

My horror monologue YstalyFEAR began as a story inspired by the village where I grew up. It went on to win Best Male Performance in Audio Drama at the 2026 One Voice Awards, which was an enormous encouragement.

Then came The Ninth Bell, a six-part full cast gothic horror drama set on a remote Welsh island. It was a considerably more ambitious undertaking, and one that challenged me in ways I hadn’t anticipated. From developing the story and its characters to creating the atmosphere and bringing the finished production together, it was an extraordinary learning experience. It gave me the opportunity to work with some of my closest friends in the world of voice acting, and also the chance to write with them in mind.

One of the things I’ve come to appreciate most about creating my own work is that there is always something new to learn.

To receive recognition from the Audio Production Awards for this side of my career, alongside talented producers working across the wider audio industry, is something I’m immensely grateful for.

The people who make it possible

One of the great privileges of working in voiceover is the variety of people and projects you encounter.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had opportunities to collaborate with some exceptionally talented writers, directors, producers, studios and creative teams.

Some of those projects have been commercial productions. Others have taken me into video games, character performance and dramatic storytelling. They’ve challenged me, stretched my abilities and occasionally taken me well outside my comfort zone.

And I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

It’s easy, when talking about awards, to focus on the individual whose name appears on the trophy. But performances don’t happen in isolation. They grow out of good writing, thoughtful direction, imaginative production and the trust that creative people place in one another. I’ve been fortunate enough to benefit from all of those things.

Looking ahead

What I find so exciting at the moment is that I’m still discovering new directions to take my work.

Voice acting remains at the heart of what I do, and I continue to love the challenge of bringing other people’s words and ideas to life, but writing and producing my own audio dramas has opened another door, allowing me to explore stories and creative possibilities that might otherwise never have existed.

The more I develop those different skills, the more I find that each strengthens the others.

So while these past few weeks have been wonderful, I’m equally excited about what comes next.

To the clients, directors, producers, fellow performers and creative teams who have trusted me with their projects, thank you.

And to everyone who has listened to my productions, shared them, encouraged me or simply taken the time to offer a kind word, thank you too.

It’s been a remarkable few weeks.

But they’ve only been possible because of a remarkable couple of years.

And I hope there are plenty more to come.
